SKA London Beach Picnic 2026 – A Day of Sunshine, Friendship, Food and Fun at Joss Bay

What better way to celebrate friendship, family, and the spirit of togetherness than a day by the seaside?

SKA London’s Beach Picnic 2026 at Joss Bay was a wonderful celebration that brought together around 145 members, families, and friends for a memorable day filled with laughter, delicious Mangalorean food, music, games, dancing, and, above all, fellowship.

From the early morning departure to the journey home in the evening, the day was filled with joy, energy, and countless happy memories.

An Early Start and a Joyful Journey

The excitement began early in the morning as two coaches departed from Southall and Kingsbury at around 7:30 a.m. With everyone looking forward to a day of fun at the seaside, the atmosphere was cheerful from the very beginning.

The journey itself became part of the celebration. A traditional Mangalorean breakfast accompanied by hot coffee was served on the coaches, giving everyone a delicious start to the day.

As the coaches made their way towards Joss Bay, the atmosphere became even more lively with music, singing, dancing, and plenty of laughter. Friends caught up, families enjoyed each other’s company, and the excitement for the day ahead continued to grow.

Arriving at Beautiful Joss Bay

At approximately 11:00 a.m., we arrived safely at Joss Bay.

Once we reached the beach, everyone came together to transform the area into our picnic space. Gazebos were put up, tables arranged, and all the necessary preparations were completed through wonderful teamwork.

It was heartwarming to see so many people contributing and helping to make the day comfortable and enjoyable for everyone.

With the picnic area ready, it was time for the fun to begin!

Games, Laughter and Friendly Competition

A variety of games and activities were organised for both adults and children, and everyone participated with great enthusiasm.

The games brought plenty of laughter, excitement, and friendly competition. It was wonderful to see people of all ages getting involved, cheering each other on, and simply enjoying being together.

The fun continued with the raffle draw, which added another exciting element to the day.

A special thank you goes to everyone who generously donated raffle prizes and supported the raffle. Your contributions helped make the event even more enjoyable and exciting for everyone.

A Delicious Mangalorean Feast

After the games and raffle, it was time for one of the most eagerly anticipated parts of the day — lunch!

SKA London served a delicious traditional Mangalorean meal featuring:

  • Pork Bafat
  • Chicken Curry
  • Matar Paneer
  • Rice
  • Rice Pudding
  • Watermelon

The aroma of the food and the sight of everyone enjoying the meal created a wonderful sense of home and community.

For many, food is at the heart of Mangalorean gatherings, and this lunch was certainly a highlight of the picnic.

A heartfelt thank you goes to all the wonderful volunteers who worked tirelessly behind the scenes — from chopping and preparing ingredients to cooking, serving, organising, and cleaning up.

A successful meal for 145 people requires tremendous effort, teamwork, and dedication, and the contribution of every volunteer was truly appreciated.

Fun in the Sun – Beach Time and Tug of War

With lunch enjoyed and everyone re-energised, it was time to head towards the beach.

Members, families, and friends made their way to the seaside to enjoy the fresh air, beautiful surroundings, and the refreshing waters of Joss Bay. Children and adults alike enjoyed playing, relaxing, chatting, and spending quality time together.

One of the biggest highlights of the afternoon was the Tug of War on the beach.

What began as a friendly competition quickly turned into an exciting spectacle, with teams giving it their all while supporters cheered them on. There was plenty of laughter, determination, and friendly rivalry — exactly the kind of fun that makes a community gathering so special.

Baila, Music and More Celebration

At around 4:00 p.m., the beach picnic took another lively turn with the start of the Baila Dance.

Music filled the air as members came together to dance, laugh, and enjoy the moment. Young and old joined in, creating a wonderful atmosphere of celebration and togetherness.

Tea, coffee, and snacks were also served, giving everyone a chance to relax and refresh themselves while continuing to enjoy the entertainment.

Bingo – One More Round of Fun

At approximately 4:45 p.m., it was time for another much-loved activity — Bingo.

With everyone gathered together, the game brought plenty of anticipation, excitement, and laughter. It was a fitting final activity before the group prepared to leave Joss Bay.

Time to Say Goodbye

At around 5:00 p.m., it was time to say goodbye to beautiful Joss Bay and begin our journey home.

Although everyone was tired after a full day of activities, the coaches were filled with the happy conversations and memories of a day well spent.

From breakfast on the coaches to the games, raffle, delicious lunch, beach activities, Tug of War, Baila, Bingo, and everything in between, the day had been a wonderful celebration of friendship and community.
